After ruling the ticket counters for a week, Sudipto Sen’s The Kerala Story has started its second week at the box office on a good note. However, its collection neither fell nor grew on its eighth day in comparison to its seventh day. It looks like the film will take another day to reach the milestone of Rs 100 crore.
The industry tracker Sacnilk reported that The Kerala Story earned Rs 12.50 crore on its eighth day (early estimates), which is the same as its seventh day (Rs 12.50 crore). This brings the film’s total collection to approximately Rs 94 crore. The film is continuing to get decent footfall at the cinema halls as it witnessed occupancy of 25.77% in the Hindi-speaking market.
After starting its run in the theaters with Rs 8.03 crore, The Kerala Story showed an uptick in its collection during the first weekend, with Rs 11.22 crore coming in on Saturday followed by Rs 16.40 crore on Sunday. Its first Monday recorded a solid total of Rs 10.07 crore, followed by Rs 11.14 crore on Tuesday, Rs 12 crore on Wednesday and Rs 12.50 crore on Thursday. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film’s collection has been “phenomenal” and also an “eye-opener”.
